Zhou Dongyu Takes the Cover of Marie Claire November Issue

Fabulous would be an understatement for this month cover of Marie Claire China! 

Zhou Dongyu, who won Triple Gold Grand Slam in Chinese movies, has transformed into a goddess of fashion in this spread.

The way she moves is absolute perfection in this behind the scenes video.

Talking to Marie Claire, Zhou Dongyu shared about her recent roles. 

For "Trending Topic" film that wrapped in April this year, she said,  "I always thought I couldn't act in such role.". But it was the script that changed her mind. "I really like this role, but I can't act, what should I do? From the appearance to the personality, for all the aspects of me, Chen Ran is the direct opposite of me. Actually, the director also felt the stress however he wanted to try, so we just did it", continued the young actor. It finally worked out after trying out with styling.

Blessed with gorgeous youthful face for her age, Zhou Dongyu has played a lot of roles of young girls. To some, it is getting repetitive to see her in the roles of similar age range. Others assume she is not suitable for more mature roles. "You also know that I acted in so many roles of a young girl, it gives people (an impression) that I was born to be like this", she expressed.

She used an analogy of red braised pork belly without soy source to refer to her acting in different kind of roles. "It takes time to let people believe (that I can do it) and accept it."

On the role of "Zhou Ran" for the "Dancing Queen" film, Zhou Dongyu regards her as a real and simple girl with nothing spectacular. She accepted the script after talking with the director Ma Yingxin to whom she has great respect. 

Despite having won all the awards a Chinese movie actress could get, Zhou Dongyu is a humble lady. "When I work with them (directors), I'm just a normal actor, I listen to them on everything", she described her working attitude. 

In terms of physical aesthetics, Zhou Dongyu is someone who loves to exercise. She said she "like to have a bit more muscles and more energy." She also shared her experience of having a stiff neck while during a photoshoot and joked that "We are getting old". 

On keeping her personal life separate from work, her answer is "Since debut till now, I always keep my work and life separate. At different environments with different people, there would be differences more or less. We can't say which aspect is you or which aspect is not, it's the real you only when all those aspects are combined."

Breaking the cliché of all the answers to the common question of "What do you want to say to your old self", she replied "I have nothing to say to her, children don't understand anything".
