The 59th Golden Horse Awards Announce the Jury Lineup

Considered the most reputable awards for Chinese speaking films, the Golden Horse Awards is back for 2022. As the award show will be held of November 9, the jury line up is announced.

The list includes:

Ann Hui, one of the most critically acclaimed Hong Kong filmmaker as well as a three time winners of the Golden Horse awards

Chang Chen, the latest Golden Horse awards winner for the Best Leading actor with "The Soul" in 58th Golden Horse Awards

Gwen Lun-mei, a well-known Taiwanese actress who has won the Golden Horse once with several nominations for other top awards such as the Hundred Flowers Awards

Cheng Wei-hao, a Taiwanese director and screenwriter who is also a Golden Horse Awards winner back in  2015.

Yeh Jufeng, a female producer who won the Golden Horse Awards at its 50th run

Yu Jing-pin, a Taiwanese cinematographer, who has won the Hong Kong Film Awards

Chang Jung-chi, a Taiwanese director who has won a Golden Horse Awards. You would probably know him as the director of Edge of Innocence film with Huang Zitao.

Chang Yao-sheng, a famous Taiwanese novelist as well as the director and the screenwriter whose film open the 57th Golden Horse Awards ceremony.

Silver Cheung, an art director who also won the Golden Horse Awards

Despite being considered as the most prestigious award for Chinese language films, it has been boycotted by Beijing since 2018 due to a pro-Taiwan speech by a winner then.  The last main land artsits who won the Golden Horse Awards are Zhang Yimou, Xu Zheng and Hu Bo for the 55th Golden Horse Awards held in 2018.

While Hong Kong film makers are encouraged to not take part in the Taiwanese Awards show, nominations for 59th Golden Horse Awards are swept by Hong Kong films such as "Limbo". 

It's also refershing to see Singaporean-Korean film "Ajoomma" in many nominations. There is also a Macau film "Kissing the Ground You Walked On" for the first time in the Golden Horse nominations.  Check out the full nomination list here.
