[INTERVIEW] Han Dongjun Responded to the Question if He has Broken through the Idol Image

The new drama of Han Dongjun (Elvis Han) "Fei Teng Ren Sheng" has come to a wrap as it will finish airing tomorrow on Oct 18.

With the background of Chinese automobile industry, Han Donjun plays the role of Ai Changan who is an automobile technician at an automobile company called Huaqi, alongside Kan Qingzi who plays the role of Shen Xia, another employee at Huaqi. The story unfolds as they take one challenges after another to push Huaqi to become a top company in China.

Portraying Ai Changan character with an age span of 30 years, Han Dongjun made sure he adapted "the demeanor and body movements" to keep the older Ai Changan different from the younger one. 

For the question of the relationship between being a racer in real life and expressing feelings of Ai Changan who suffers from post-war syndrome and couldn't touch any heavy trucks upon his return to the factory, Han Dongjun said "This is similar to how I tried to overcome the (psychological shadow) after I faced an accident on the field". 

He also emphasized how "hard work" is important for their generations. While his playing the role of a technician is far away from the actual work of such hardworking workers, Han Dongjun believes that such "craftsman spirit" is what is required for his generation. 

Han Dongjun is getting more and more recognized by passersby as he become one of the three young actors who were born after 1990s with box office total of 10 Billion RMB

Hence, Global Times gets down to the main question: "Some people said you now belong to the group of skillful people from an idol, what do you think of this?" to which Han Dongjun replied "I never feel that I belong to any group nor there's a group that I want to be part of. I am an actor. The most important thing, I think, is to treat your work seriously. When you get a role and a script, you must take it seriously, and leave the rest to the audience".

He also mentioned that acting for a new character is like meeting a new friend and finishing it is like saying goodbye to a friend whom you may never see again.

The conversation ended as Han Dongjun shared his upcoming works: "Flash Over" (惊天救援), a film about rescue team members and Love Is Full of Jiudaowan, a drama about life and love of young people from Beijing.
